Today is the first time I am giving my boy apple puree. How do I make the puree? Here is the step:
You will need one apple.
(1) Take out the apple core as shown in the picture:
(2) Cut into 4 pieces. Do not remove the skin because this will help to retain most of the nutrients of the apple.
(3) While doing this, boil water so that you can steam the apple immediately once you are done with the cutting.
(4) Steam for about 15 to 20 minutes.
(5) Scrap out the apple flesh and throw away the skin.
(6) You can blend/grind the apple flesh till you get a smooth puree. I am using the Munchkin Manual Grinder. It is effective and produce a smooth puree as shown the picture below.
I was thinking of just feeding apple puree to my boy. Unfortunately, after one spoon, he gives me the disgusted look. So I decided to add 1 tablespoon of rice cereal, 1-2 teaspoons apple puree and breastmilk. I feed him the new combination and he takes it well. He finish everything up. The rest of the apple puree, I eat it. Why I don't freeze it? It is because I want my boy to have fresh food daily if possible.

More of Rice Cereal
The schedule is like previous days. Today, I decided to add more rice cereal for my boy. I added 1 1/2 tablespoons of rice cereal. At the end of the feed he seems full but he manage to finish up his cereal. At the end of the meal, he let out a big burp. I guess for now I will only stick to 1 1/2 tablespoons till he indicates that he wants more.
Tomorrow I shall introduce him to apple puree. And I will update again on his reaction in this blog.

Increasing his Cereal Intake
Since, this is his first week of eating, instead of introducing new food items, I would like to increase the amount he is eating now.
So today, I mix 1 tablespoon of cereal with breastmilk for him to eat. He seems to take it very well. In fact he seems to want more of it. He was rather upset when I take him out from the high chair.
Anyway, these few days I will increase his cereal intake till he can take about 2-3 tablespoons per feeding.
I will introduce new food at the end of the week. I hope this journey his enjoyable for him as it is for me.

Exclusively Breastfed and Day 1 of Rice Cereal
I must congratulate myself for being able to breastfeed my boy exclusively for six months. No formula, no water and no solids.
Today is the day I will introduce my son to his first food in his life. It is a new journey for him and another exciting one for me. Below is his schedule for today:
Morning: Breastmilk
Noon: Partial breastmilk and introduction of rice cereal and water, continue with breastmilk
Afternoon and night: Breastmilk
I feed him with some breastmilk first and then I pump some milk out (around 1 oz) and mix with one teaspoon of rice cereal. He was really excited and he seems to enjoy the feeding session. But I must say that most of the cereals are on his bib then in his tummy. Oh well, it is first time so it takes lots of practice to perfect it.
Next step, will be the need to check for allergy if he has any. So I will need to feed him the rice cereal for 4 consecutive days.
